Crawlers Gully has undergone a lot of changes in the last couple of years. We have sold our second farm and reduced down to the home block. We now have only a very small flock of dorpers and no rabbits.
​We do have a whiskey distillery - The Riverbourne Distillery with product ready for release this year. And a pastured freerange egg enterprise - Long Paddock Eggs. And a pack of Border Collies for Sheepdog Trialling. Life never stands still.

We have recently added Maremmas to our animal mix. Very different to the herding dogs but equally dedicated to their work, keeping the foxes at bay.

Good day with Roy training today. All the work is starting to pay off, he is so keen to learn and to understand what is required. A great dog to start to learn the art of trialling. If we can get the cast, lift and draw perfect I can think about competing.

Our latest venture, pasture improvement with a host of little workers. We have been running the chooks for about three months now and can already see the difference. After the recent rain the places where the chooks have been are growing faster and greener. The other great thing is the eggs.

We displayed our Dorpers yesterday at the Braidwood Show with Claremont White Dorpers. Like all perfect Show days it rained, after such a dry spell no one was complaining.
Some of you might remember the fuss at last years Yass Show, well we received notice that the Show committee had passed a motion that "no shedding sheep are to be allowed on the grounds". so it was with regret that the President informed us we would not be able to display our sheep. Interesting that some districts are still manning the barricades.

The bridge wars continue with the "Wombat Bridge" sign being removed as well as the posts it was mounted on. Hope the next move isn't to remove the bridge.

There has been a running battle at Captains Flat over the naming of a small wooden bridge. The official name is "Silverhills Bridge" and the Council installed a sign saying same. Some local persons are devoted to calling the bridge "Wombat Bridge". So we have had council sign up, council sign down, wombat sign up and wombat sign down. Now council has come out with the fighting words " I really hope the person who has removed the sign is NOT a member of our close little community and they live in some scumbag part of Canberra where they belong" effectively insulting everyone. Must admit we are quietly rooting for the wombat side but it could get ugly.

Road trip, Amarula here we come.

When we first got Dorpers we were in a drought and they just out performed everything around. The good years made us forget how hardy and adaptable they are. Now, we are dry again and they are just thriving, fat and content, no worm to worry them and the heat is no problem. Maybe for a little while it is the Dorpers chance to shine again and show what makes them such a welcome addition to our country.
